WHITBY — Not even a flood could prevent the Judokaa Martial Arts Club from delivering a wave of medals and trophies over the past few weeks.Despite being forced out of their Whitby dojo for three weeks after a flood left the club under water, the fighters have continued to put up big results.Those results and other accomplishments will be celebrated on Thursday, when Whitby mayor Pat Perkins will cut the ribbon for the official re-opening of the club.Judokaa took nine fighters to the Ontario Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament in Toronto on the weekend and came home with seven gold medals, one silver and one bronze.Adam Scott, Candice Driscoll, Miranda Marania, Arista Marania, Kymarae Bristol, Matthew Serrano and Mateo Valles were the gold medallists, while Riley Deveau, competing for the first time, took silver and Jordan Del Vecchio won bronze.The club also sent four fighters to the Ontario Open No Gi tournament and took three more gold medals and one more silver. Meanwhile, at the 33rd Annual Invitational Tora Tournament in Brampton, the Judokaa club had eight fighters attend and all returned with trophies.Adam Scott, Cezar Hirsescu and Arista Marania finished first, Mateo Valles and Alyssa Miniotas were second, while Jordan Del Vecchio, Miranda Marania and Candice Driscoll placed third.
