The Judokaa Martial Arts club in Whitby celebrated its third anniversary recently, around the same time it crowned its first two black belts.
The club recently held a parents’ appreciation night to mark the occasion, and Judokaa’s owner sensei Kevin Ausman said a record number of people went through the doors.

The club also handed out its latest outstanding judoka award to Jordan Del Vecchio, and created a new Brent Bloom Memorial Award in honour of a great supporter of the club who died recently.

The club’s primary focus has always been a children’s program but over the next few months, the adult program is expected to grow with the official launching of the Judokaa Brazilian jiu jitsu program.Judokaa also handed out its first two Kodokan judo black belts to Nick Aloe and Peter Elasigue, who recently went up before the provincial grading board and passed their Shodan test.
