WHITBY — Whitby’s Judokaa Martial Arts club came back with 18 medals and a third-place team result from the 2014 GTA Classic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament held at the Brampton Soccer Centre.

The event drew more than 400 competitors from all over Ontario and Quebec, took place on eight official mat areas and was sanctioned by the Ontario Jiu Jitsu Association.

Whitby this Week

Competing under the name Gracie Humaita, the Judokaa club placed fifth in the kids’ division and third in the adult division.

 

Brandon Dion, Carlos Gould Capurro, Joshua Deflorimonte and Petar Mijacevic finished first in their groups, Amelya Santos, Stavros Klironomos, Antonio Santos, Samuel Bowman, Lily Matheson, Destiny Deflorimonte and Logan Balayo were second, and Logan Wood, Alexander Alcaide, Stephanie Dundas, Kiffin Bowman, Carlos Dundas, Jeff Santos and Grace Matheson finished third.
